When you access our services at LVWS, you may be offered the opportunity to take part in group work with other people who have experienced crime. This short animation explains some of the benefits of group work.

What happens if I get upset?

The co-facilitator will may take you to the online ‘breakout room’ or you can let them know that you’d like to take a break.

What happens if I know someone on the course?

Let the facilitator know, they will discuss your concerns and move your group if need be.

What if I work in a field where anonymity is important?

We could ensure that no one from your work/field of work is placed onto the same programme. You can also change you name on Zoom.

What if I don’t want my camera on?

Having your camera on is an important part of group work. This ensures your safety and that of others. It also ensures that facilitators can pick up on non-verbal cues and provide help where needed. If you don’t feel comfortable with this, you can explore our other digital options.

What happens if I miss a session?

The facilitators will arrange a catch prior to the following weeks’ session.

Can I miss a session and not catch up?

We ask that all participants attend the whole programme to get the full benefits, as often one session will lead onto another. However, we do understand that things may come up, so please discuss this with your facilitator.

What if I don’t want to talk and I want to just listen?

There is absolutely no pressure to talk. If you’re more comfortable just listening, that’s fine.

What if I need some additional support?

When you’re referred onto a group programme, the person arranging it will ask you if you need additional support. We aim to provide an inclusive programme and will work with you according to your needs.
