About London Victim and Witness Service (LVWS)

We’re here to help if you’ve been affected by any type of crime. The support and information we offer is specific to your needs and the crime you’ve experienced.

Our specialist support is available for all victims and witnesses of crime (adults and children) in London. We can help you whether you choose to report a crime to the police or not. We will listen to you and help you to work out your next steps.

From 1 October 2024, support is provided by different specialist organisations, including Victim Support, Catch22 and Calm Mediation. You can find out more about each of the support organisations on our partners page.

How we can help

We understand that you may feel overwhelmed after experiencing a crime. This is completely normal, and we have specialist teams to help you understand your rights and your needs.

When you contact LVWS, we will:

  • give the immediate support you need and check whether your safety is at risk
  • help you decide if you need more support
  • refer you for ongoing support, if needed.

Online support

My Support Space is a free online tool, which is full of resources to help you cope and move forward after a crime. It guides you towards the information you need, in your own time. It will also remember where you left off, so that you can go back to it whenever you like.

It’s easy to register and set up an account. All of the guides are easy to use and interactive, to help you access the information you need for your individual situation.
